Pastor Paul grew up primarily in Tennessee. He has lived in Oak Ridge and Knoxville, TN; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC area; MA; AZ; Columbia, SC; Houston, TX; Charleston, SC; Escanaba, Michigan.

Graduated with a BA from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN (1982)

Served the Iowa, LCA as a youth staffer 1983-1984
